Only those of us of a certain age will get The Two Ronnies reference, but Lauren and the C&C Scotland team are delighted to be adding four candles and a very large celebratory cake to their shopping list!
“I still can’t believe that it’s four years this spring, since we opened – it really does feel like yesterday!!”, says Lauren. “So much has happened and we’ve achieved so much, it’s an incredible feeling to reflect on the whole journey.”
So, with that in mind, let’s take a little amble down memory lane.
What have been some of the highlights of the past four years?
An obvious one was being able to bring on board my ex-colleague, Sheena, after only six months. We couldn’t have achieved what we have without her. Opening our office at Eskdale House on the Crichton Estate in 2022 was also a significant milestone. It’s a great office and location, and was a huge boost when we were handed the keys and made the space our own.
And what challenges come to mind?
Something I’d possibly not given too much thought to was just how difficult it’s been obtaining the right staff for the Scotland Office. Location and availability play a significant part, but I think the tide has finally turned on this – Karis has been a great fit for the team and has slotted in perfectly!
And in the words of Heather Small, what have you done, to make you feel proud?
This is so cheesy, but… I’m proud of everything! Of what we’ve built and what we continue to do. No two days are the same, and every day has its challenges, but I’m still as excited and passionate as I was four years ago! I’m also proud of how valued we are by our clients. A client recently called to ask for some advice, and towards the end of the call, she said, “And this is the reason why we would never ask anyone else to quote our business – we trust nobody but you!” That kind of feedback gives me an incredible buzz.
What have you learned over the last four years?
Every day is a school day, and there is always something new to learn. With the best preparation in the world, problems and challenges will always find a way of just popping up! It’s not a reflection of us, it’s just the nature of the beast.
So, what’s next for C&C Scotland?
With Karis now on board, we’ll be pushing even harder in building the brand name and developing the business and hopefully even more staff.
