There’s a new face at C&C Private Clients, and if enthusiasm, ambition and a willingness to challenge the conventional are anything to go by, she’s going to fit right in!
Rachel Davis has joined the growing team as Senior Development Executive, bringing almost a decade of high-net-worth insurance experience, a passion for building relationships and a refreshingly energetic approach to doing business.
And while her journey into insurance might have been something of an accident, there’s nothing accidental about her ambitions for the future!
From Free Toast To A Flourishing Career!
Rachel’s insurance career began in 2018, when a friend encouraged her to apply for a position at Hiscox in York.
“I was working at a car dealership and wasn’t really sure what I wanted to do,” she recalls. “My best friend had joined Hiscox and said they were recruiting. The offices were amazing: they had a rocket in reception, heated bannisters, free coffee and toast! I thought, why not?”
Granted – not necessarily the most conventional career strategy, but it worked! Rachel quickly discovered that her outgoing personality and genuine interest in people were perfectly suited to high-net-worth personal insurance.
Subsequent roles at Aon and Marsh developed her expertise before she took on the challenge of establishing and leading a Private Clients department for an independent brokerage. It was invaluable experience, but when the opportunity arose to join C&C, Rachel recognised the chance to concentrate on what she enjoys most: building relationships and developing new opportunities.
A Meeting Of Minds
Rachel already knew a C&C colleague, Ben Vardy, from her time at Marsh. She was also familiar with Private Clients Director Emma Proctor’s reputation for making things happen.
“Emma is bold, ambitious and full of ideas,” Rachel explains. “And the thing I really like is that she actually does something with those ideas! Insurance can be quite traditional. Some people have done things the same way for years and don’t necessarily want to change. But the world is moving quickly, and you’ve got to be prepared to try something different. That’s what appealed to me about C&C. There’s so much energy, so many things happening, and a real willingness to think outside the box.”
It’s a philosophy that fits perfectly with C&C’s entrepreneurial culture, where fresh thinking and initiative are actively encouraged.
Taking Private Clients Even Further
Rachel’s new role combines managing her own portfolio of clients with a significant focus on business development and opening new doors. With C&C Private Clients continuing to raise its profile, the team is increasingly involved in events and initiatives introducing its specialist services to new audiences.
One particularly exciting area is its growing relationship with the PA and EA community, where C&C is establishing itself as a trusted insurance partner for professionals managing the complex personal affairs of high-net-worth individuals. It’s exactly the kind of opportunity Rachel relishes.
“I’m really excited about getting out there, meeting people, attending events and helping to build the C&C brand,” she says. “There’s already so much momentum, and I want to help build on that.”
Making A Difference Beyond Insurance
If Rachel sounds busy at work, her life outside the office is just as full-on. She’s a keen traveller, enthusiastic cook, a time-challenged golfer and someone who loves spending time with friends and family. But perhaps most impressive is her commitment to helping others.
Rachel is now a trustee and director of Peasholme, a York-based charity supporting vulnerable people, including those experiencing homelessness or financial difficulties. But her charitable mission began when she helped collect winter coats for people in need. Realising that plenty of people wanted to support good causes but didn’t always know how, she created a social media platform connecting local charities with potential donors.
What started as a small community initiative quickly snowballed, culminating in a major appeal following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. When transport arrangements fell through, Rachel helped coordinate an alternative solution, with two vans delivering essential supplies to a shelter supporting Ukrainian women and children in Poland.
The Next Chapter
With a new role, a house move on the horizon and plenty of plans, Rachel certainly isn’t someone who likes standing still.
“I’m really looking forward to seeing what we can achieve. There’s a fantastic team here, Emma has brilliant ideas, and there’s so much opportunity. For me, it’s about getting involved, building relationships and making things happen.”
Emma Proctor, Private Clients Director, completely agrees: “Rachel brings exactly the kind of energy and ambition we’re looking for as we continue to grow C&C Private Clients. She’s got fantastic experience in the high-net-worth market, but what really impressed me was her enthusiasm for people and her determination to make things happen, so she’s a great fit for the team. I think we’re going to have a lot of fun working together!”
Welcome to C&C Private Clients, Rachel. Something tells us things are about to get even busier!
