New business wins, client growth, and a surge in opportunities have seen C&C Chester strengthen its numbers, as it recently welcomed Daryl Jones to its ranks. Daryl joins as an Account Executive with over 16 years of commercial insurance experience, and in a previous life, even had a spell with We Buy Any Car!
With his considerable experience and being based in Rhyl, Daryl has a solid understanding of the Cheshire, Merseyside and North Wales markets, and so will be a huge asset to the Chester operation.
Throughout his career, he’s been entrusted with managing and expanding significant commercial books. And with a focus on delivering strategic organic growth through exceptional client service, there’s no question that he’s a perfect fit to join the C&C Chester team.
But who found who?
Daryl says: “It was the strangest thing. I just happened to get a call from a recruiter who Paul Trafford was working with, at the exact same time that a mental switch had clicked. I just knew I needed a different kind of challenge in a different kind of environment – and suddenly the Universe lined up an opportunity! I met with Paul a couple of times and then with Andy Green, and was blown away by their approach. They were looking at me as a person, how I might fit in with C&C, and the potential for development. In truth, numbers and books were hardly mentioned. It was so refreshing.”

Daryl has hit the ground running and is already making great progress. Clients from way back are making contact and new leads are in progress. Networking is also high on his agenda, although not necessarily from a direct business perspective. Instead, he’s building a portfolio of introducers, which is one of his strengths.
So how is he feeling, one month in?
“I recently had a ‘pinch-me moment’,” says Daryl. “I just can’t believe the instant levels of trust and flexibility that have been offered to me. It’s exactly the kind of environment I thrive in. It’s so empowering. But the biggest step change for me is working with an Account Handler – I’ve always had to do everything myself, but this feels like I’ve won the lottery! It means I can get on with what I do best, whilst I know all the set-up is in expert hands. It’s nothing short of revolutionary for me.”
Outside of work, Daryl is married with a family, and has a dog and a cat – the full set! He’s a self-confessed film nut and makes no apology for being a 40-something gamer! Albeit footy and Lego games with his son are more his thing, rather than the 4 am Zombie apocalypse type.
And speaking of footy – he’s also a coach at Rhyl Hearts Junior FC, the oldest FC in Denbighshire. Initially, it was to encourage his son, but even after he decided footy wasn’t for him, Daryl chose to stay on and help develop the team. So much so, that he’s now Vice Chair of the club, and guess who the clever money is backing to be the next Chair?!
