Last month, Malc had the pleasure of watching the England v Sri Lanka Test Match at the Kia Oval, but for the first time, with C&C being an official Advertising Partner of the venue. He was there on the Friday and Sunday which provided plenty of opportunity to meet a vast array of Surrey staff, as well as other sponsors and players, both past and present.
Friday’s visit included pitchside hospitality and the chance to catch up with some of England’s biggest names in cricket, such as Graeme Swann, Gladstone Small, and longtime C&C friend David Gower.
Sunday was a more elevated affair as Malc and his guests were hosted by Surrey on the Corinthian Roof Terrace in the JM Finn Stand, and he was raving about his experience! The finish of the environment, the quality of the food and the attentiveness of the staff were simply outstanding – and let’s face it, he’s got plenty to compare it to!
But don’t just take his word for it, Jimmy Anderson described it as “probably the best place in the World to watch cricket.” And being set on the fourth floor, with views across London and looking directly back onto the Pavilion, it’s difficult to argue with. It was no surprise then that Graham Gooch also chose this as his preferred spot to watch England clinch the Series. (We’ll overlook that Sri Lanka actually won the Test!)
Malc says: “It really was a phenomenal two days of simply outstanding hospitality. The atmosphere was brilliant on both days, and it was a great experience to enjoy two days of play in completely different settings. The staff were superb and the service was amazing, so all round, we had a wonderful time that was thoroughly enjoyed by all our guests. Huge thanks to James Cutter and Olli Erwin at Surrey CCC for organising everything and for their very kind hospitality. It was also great to see our advertising boards on display, which have generated a lot of positive feedback on both the Test Match exposure and the 20/20 which is exactly what we were endeavouring to achieve.”
