Padel Is Booming in the UK – But Are Courts Properly Insured?

Added on: March 27, 2026

Padel has taken the UK by storm.

What was once a relatively unknown sport has rapidly become one of the fastest-growing sports in the country, with new courts opening across the UK to meet increasing demand.

From private clubs and leisure centres to standalone Padel facilities and community venues, investment in Padel infrastructure is accelerating. But with this growth comes a new set of risks that many operators may not have considered, especially if they are new to the market themselves.

💥 Check out our Free Guide to the 10 Risks Every Padel Court Operator Should Know via our website. 💥

Padel courts are very different from traditional tennis or squash facilities. The enclosed glass walls, specialist artificial turf surfaces and fast-paced nature of the game introduce unique exposures that standard sports facility insurance may not fully address.

For example:
• Players regularly make contact with the glass walls during rallies
• High-speed balls can cause facial or eye injuries
• Artificial surfaces can become slippery in certain conditions
• Glass panels can be costly to replace if damaged
• Court closures can lead to significant lost revenue

For operators who have invested heavily in building courts, these risks make having the right insurance in place essential. At C&C, we are now working with padel clubs and operators to help arrange insurance programmes specifically designed for the risks associated with padel court facilities.

This can include cover for:
✔ Public liability
✔ Court structures and specialist materials
✔ Business interruption
✔ Employers’ liability
✔ Coaching and professional indemnity
✔ Equipment hire and retail activities

As the sport continues to grow, ensuring facilities are properly protected will become an increasingly important part of running a successful club.

We’re proud to support the growth of Padel, including through C&C Employee Benefits sponsoring the first Stockport County Community Trust Padel Tournament, helping raise funds for community causes and promoting one of the most exciting new sports in the UK.

If you operate a Padel court facility – or are planning to build one – we’d be happy to discuss how our insurance cover can help protect your investment. Contact our team at padel@cc-insure.com and let’s get a rally going!
