Aviva Taps C&C for Its Future Leader Programme

Added on: March 6, 2025

Our Claims Manager, Joe Fay, recently embarked on a two-year journey on the Aviva Future Leader Programme. This coveted programme is designed to help participants grow and develop their leadership skills with a view to preparing them for even more senior level leadership experience.

This isn’t something you just book yourself onto. Firstly, you have to be nominated, which in itself is a great testament to the confidence our MD Malcolm Cooke has in our brilliant and highly valued Claims Team. Alongside our Claims Director, Steve Lockey, Joe is integral to the leadership of the team and epitomises this valuable service we provide for our clients. Once nominated, there was an application and then an interview process before our claims man secured his place. And in doing so, Joe became the first member of the C&C family to earn a place on the programme since its inception in 2018.

18 people are accepted onto the programme each year from different brokers around the UK and Joe will be joining them for a two-day workshop, every two months, for two years. Each workshop is in a different location and incorporates various challenges and presentations specifically designed to push the cohort out of their comfort zones.

Joe says that the first two days were brilliant: “The Aviva Future Leader Programme is an incredibly prestigious course, so I’m really happy and excited to be a part of it. It’ll be challenging and possibly even uncomfortable at times – but that’s the point. To learn from dealing with scenarios beyond the day-to-day norm.”

Malcolm Cooke says: “To be accepted on this course is fantastic for Joe and C&C. Personal and professional development are key to ensuring that careers flourish and the company grows. Joe has been with us for almost seven years now and is highly respected by colleagues and clients alike. Given his open mindset, I’ve no doubt he’ll embrace the opportunity offered by the programme. I’d like to thank Aviva for spearheading this initiative and for inviting Joe onto it.”

In year two, the Programme steps up a gear as Joe will find himself developing and implementing a business plan with the help of a successful industry mentor. Not to mention presenting C&C at BIBA and the overseas Aviva 110 Conference, which, for many, could induce a severe case of stage-fright.

That said, we’re confident that Joe won’t be phased by presenting at either. He’s no stranger to audiences. His band, Rook And The Ravens, have toured the world and played at Glastonbury, no less. As a subset of commercial insurance brokers, I wonder how many others sit in that tiny little bit of a Venn diagram?!

Congratulations Joe! We look forward to hearing all about your progress over the next two years!
