We just had to post about this! Jimmy Anderson, wearing a shirt featuring our logo, took six wickets in 36 balls on the third morning of the match against Nottinghamshire yesterday! Spectators had been waiting through the rain and Lancashire’s batting, for a chance to see Jimmy bowl in possibly his last match for Lancashire.
As preparation for his final Test Match at Lord’s next week, the 41-year-old showcased why he could still be a force in County Cricket. The match took place at Southport, one of Lancashire’s outgrounds, but the travel was well worth it for the die-hard Old Trafford fans.
“It was pretty amazing to come here to Southport and have Jimmy bowl as well as he did,” said Nathan Lyon, the Australia spinner. “I’ve seen it when I’ve been on the other side, but not when I’m standing there saying ‘come on Jimmy’ so that was amazing to be a part of. To come over here and play with arguably the greatest fast bowler to play the game has been pretty special. It was pretty cool being at mid-off and having him tell me what he was actually doing, it was good fun.”
Keaton Jennings, another good friend of C&C, also went on to score a magnificent 187 not out – an outstanding achievement in its own right! But cricket being cricket, after four days play, the match still finished as a draw!
We’re proud of our partnership with Lancashire Cricket and Emirates Old Trafford, as well as our association with the legend that is Jimmy Anderson (who actually finished the day on seven wickets!). Nobody, probably not even Jimmy, could have imagined that his warm-up for the big one next week, would be so spectacular, memorable, or newsworthy.
