As Official Partners of Yorkshire County Cricket Club, C&C Leeds and C&C Healthcare Leeds were once again invited to put a team into the YCCC annual golf day to play alongside other sponsors and supporters of the club, as well as being joined by a variety of players and coaches. This was their third appearance at the event and the ‘never shy of silverware’ C&C Leeds team comprised of Tom O’Connell, Andrew Middleton, Andy Atkins, and were joined by England cricket superstar, Harry Brook.
Now it appears that Harry can match his golf pace with his well-established run-scoring pace, playing off scratch… and that’s having only taken the game up seriously during lockdown! To be that talented at two sports – it’s just not fair! I guess you either have it, or you’re me.
All 18 teams strode onto the course at Leeds Golf Centre, full of expectation and anticipation and just a little bravado. The sunshine was kind all day, scores were high and the bravado was ultimately justified. The C&C Leeds team just missed out on the silverware by finishing 4th with a respectable 87 points. The winning side scored 102 points, although there’s a rumour that some of the cricketers may have embellished their handicaps. We couldn’t possibly comment!
However, the ever-competitive Leeds team were also running a competition between themselves with Tom and Andy playing against Andrew and Harry. Tom and Andy were just ahead by the 18th but Harry sunk a 25ft putt for a birdie to tie the competition. Only the 7th birdie of his day!!
Tom O’Connell, Director of C&C Leeds says: “Days like these are a fantastic opportunity to meet other sponsors and supporters of YCCC, as well as our friends from the club, whilst having a lot of fun. OK, we just missed out on adding some silverware to our already straining trophy cabinet back at the office – but having the chance to meet and play alongside Harry was just the icing on the cake. What a great guy – a genuine talent and very grounded. Just like some of our shots!”
Andrew Middleton, Director of C&C Healthcare Leeds, says: “The YCCC annual golf day is always a lot of fun because it’s so well organised. A massive thanks to everyone who pulled the day together and the team at Leeds Golf Centre. YCCC are close to our hearts and we really do enjoy working with them, so having the chance to play golf with them at their own event, really is quite special. Big thanks to Harry too. What an experience. Hopefully, he’s saying the same thing about us!”
C&C Leeds and C&C Healthcare Leeds have been associated with YCCC almost since we opened our doors for business in the city, back in 2018. But it was in 2022 that we became an Official Partner, and we’re looking forward to continuing our relationship with them long into the future.
