Manchester Thunder are currently sitting top of the table in the Vitality Netball Superleague and as a main sponsor, we recently had the opportunity to show our support for them on a Takeover Day!
A Takeover Day is literally that – our branding was everywhere, from perimeter LED advertising boards, the main scoreboard, on the programmes, there were special mentions from the match announcer and of course, our logo features on Manchester Thunder’s match kit.
Thunder were playing Severn Stars and the match was covered by Sky Sports, which captured our presence wonderfully! (And big thanks to our own Debbi Smith for creating all the video graphics!)
Representing C&C was Accounts Controller; Sarah Dentith, husband Tim, daughter Evelyn and a couple of friends. Evelyn plays netball for Denton Astros White, Sarah is the team manager and her husband Tim is the team coach. So in her words, “they’re a family of netball nuts!”. Taylor McKevitt, our sponsored player was also kind enough to have a photo taken with Evelyn.
But it didn’t stop there – Evelyn was extremely excited to present Thunder’s Amy Carter with the ball on centre court to get the game underway. Sarah and her daughter also had the pleasure of choosing and presenting the Player of the Match award, and selected GS Paige Reed, with a 97% shooting accuracy. Amy Carter also took the Sky Sports Player of the Match award.
The atmosphere at the Thunderdome was electric and the game was just as thrilling. The first quarter was very close with Lois Pearson taking Thunder one goal ahead in the final second of the 1st Quarter, Manchester Thunder then led at the end of every quarter and after a very physical game, won with a final score of 61-46 which meant they retained their top spot in the league with a goal difference of 22.
C&C have supported Manchester Thunder as a sponsor and insurance provider, since 2016 and it’s brilliant to see them deliver such consistent performances over the season. With nine games to go, we’re keeping our fingers crossed for a fifth Superleague title. The Grand Final is on Saturday 29th June in Birmingham.
