C&C sponsored Alderley Edge First XI, secured their first Cheshire County Premier League title since 2016, claiming the bonus points they required, despite a 96-run loss at Grappenhall last Saturday.
It really has been a demanding season for a very committed team, winning by one point having played 22 games. We’re delighted for the team and the whole club. The team itself is a real mix of youth and experience, with a number of players having come through the junior age groups.
Malcolm Cooke, MD of C&C Insurance Brokers says: “The calibre of cricket in this league is incredibly high, being one league below County Championship level. In fact, a number of players have even appeared for Lancashire during this season! It really is a fantastic achievement and I’d like to say congratulations from everyone at C&C on performing at such a high level across a hard-fought season.”
Martin Reid, Chair of Alderley Edge Cricket Club, says: “As you can imagine, we’re still celebrating, having waited for seven years since our last Premier League title! And the narrowness of the win reinforces just how demanding and competitive this league is. It’s a great outcome not just for the team, but the whole club. It sets the bar for all our other teams and age groups. And we wouldn’t be able to do it without the support of long-standing sponsors, such as C&C Insurance Brokers. Thank you to Malcolm Cooke and his team for their commitment to, and belief in what we are striving to achieve at our club.”
