The sun (and the golf talent) shone brightly at Sale Sharks recent golf day, sponsored by C&C and held at Mottram Hall in Cheshire. It was a fantastic day attended by Sharks players, past and present, owner Simon Orange, and other sponsors, partners and friends of the club.
The day was opened by the host, ex-Sharks and England winger, Mark Cueto MBE, followed by light practice for those wanting (or needing!) it. As the event sponsor, we were allowed two teams into the competition, which was taken with a range of seriousness by those taking part! One of our teams, performed, let’s say, a little under par. But Malc’s team, which included our own Phil Jee, Warren Hegg of Lancashire CCC and Dave Lee, delivered a very respectable 3rd position on 91 points.
The winning team came in with 97 points and was captained by someone with a track record of success, World Cup winner, Jason Robinson!
Malc says: “It was fantastic to be at Mottram for this year’s Sale Sharks golf day – a truly enjoyable and memorable event. The whole day was played in great spirit and was a fantastic opportunity to mix with so many people associated with this thriving rugby club. Thanks to Mark for being such an engaging host and also to Lynsey Robinson, George Crawshaw and Ryan Grant from Sale Sharks for their amazing support work throughout the day. Everything ran like a Swiss clock! Except for the occasional visit to the sand pit and dalliance in the rough. Not me, of course! I’d also like to thank Debbi Smith from C&C for creating all of our branding and goody bags.”
With a place in the semi-final of the Premiership secured, it was a great way for all associated with Sharks to relax a little. We’d like to wish the whole club, the best of luck in their semi-final against Leicester Tigers on 14th May. If they play like they did against Newcastle Falcons last weekend, the result won’t be in doubt!
